DMA members can play an active role in the DMA by joining an Interest Group. Each Interest Group has an elected Council to act as its representative voice, and develop initiatives to benefit their particular direct marketing sector or activity.
Role of the DMA Councils & Committees
The DMA Councils & Committees respond to the needs of DMA members by supporting the development of professional skills, marketing resources and business services that underpin innovative and cost effective initiatives within their direct marketing sector.

Each Council & Committee develops an annual Business Plan, ensuring that member business development initiatives fit with and actively support the DMA Strategic Business Programmes. The DMA currently supports 11 Councils, 3 Regions and 3 Committees, please visit the lefthand menu to view each groups' current objectives and initiatives.

What is an Interest Group?
An Interest Group is an agreed DM sector or activity set up by the DMA for members to join to enable them to receive sector specific information on issues pertinent to their business.

Any DMA member can join any number of Interest Groups. Being a member of an Interest Group means an individual will receive communications of relevance to that Interest Group. This may include updates on DMA projects, legal summaries, industry developments, events and business development initiatives. They may also receive invitations to join a working party to help progress a particular DMA initiative.

If you would like to join an Interest Group please login to view your Personal Profile, and select the sector specific/Interest Group information you would like to receive.

What is a Council?
A Council is the elected governing body of an Interest Group, who develop and progress initiatives on behalf of that DM sector or activity. Each Council comprises a minimum of six and a maximum of 15 elected members, including the Chair and Deputy Chair. Councils focus on business development, best practice & governance, training & events, PR & communications, legal issues and intelligence.

Joining a Council
Council elections are held annually. Any executive from a DMA member company can put themselves forward for election to a Council, as long as they are members of the associated Interest Group. Interest Group members form the electorate for the associated Council. Council members are elected for a total of three years and commit to regular Council meetings. There can be only one representative from a member company on each Council.

What is a Committee?
A Committee is a non-elected working party appointed by the DMA Board. Committees focus on core areas that are of key strategic importance to the industry as a whole. Committees report directly to the Board and are chaired by a DMA Board member.
